Secretary of State Ken Bennett released adjusted campaign contribution limits for use in the 2013 – 2014 election cycle. Arizona Revised Statutes § 16-905 specifically provides for the contribution limits to be adjusted for inflation by the Secretary of State every two years. Candidates, campaign committees and election officials use the limits to be in compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes Title 16, Chapter 6 (Campaign Contributions and Expenses).
“As chief elections officer I am required to adjust the campaign contribution limits by the percentage change in the consumer price index biennially,” stated Secretary Bennett. “Overall, we increased the campaign contribution amount for the 2013-2014 election cycle. The formula used to make the adjustment includes using the consumer price index for all urban consumers, by U.S. city average, which is published by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.”
The adjusted campaign contribution limits have been distributed statewide to county recorders, election officials, local city and town clerks as well as to the Citizens Clean Elections Commission. The new limits also are posted on the Secretary of State’s Web site at www.azsos.gov.
A copy of the 2013-2014 Campaign Contribution Limits is available at the Secretary of State’s office on the 7th Floor of the State Capitol, or by calling the Elections Services Division at (602) 542-8683 or 1-877-THE-VOTE (1-877-843-8683).
