Flake Sees “Spasms Of A Dying Party” [POLL]

On Sunday, in an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake said that attendees of Republican Party rallies are the “spasms of a dying party.”

Specifically Flake stated: “When you look at some of the audiences cheering for Republicans, sometimes, you look out there and you say, ‘Those are the spasms of a dying party.'”

Flake complained that the Republican platform is catering too “older white men.”

As most progressives will tell you, the Democratic Party is catering to older white folks too. Hillary Clinton is evidence of that as well as the average attendee at nearly every Democratic Party organizing event.

In October, the ADI reported on numbers released by the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office:

The number of registered voters in Arizona has increased 14,643 to more than 3.6 million active voters since July 2017  and 19,194 since January 2017.

Of the state’s 3,665,316 voters, 1,268,748 (34.6%) are Republicans, 1,106,675 (30.2%) are Democrats and 1,250,879 (34.1%) have not designated an officially recognized party preference.  Libertarians and members of the Green party make up a little less than one percent of the state’s total registration.

The changes since the July report reflect increases in Republicans 31.4 % and Independents (other) represented 57.0 % of the 14, 643 increase in registered voters.  The  Green and Libertarian party voters actually declined.
