Four different Southern Arizona law enforcement agencies are investigating cases against a common suspect. Police Departments in Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a large series of burglaries that occurred throughout their jurisdictions.
The initial cases happened back in December of 2012 and continue to this day. The break-ins have all been committed in a similar fashion. A rock is thrown through the glass front door of a business which is typically located in a professional plaza. The suspect enters the business, jumps the counter or front desk and rummages through drawers and desks in the lobby area. Cash and other valuables are taken. The damage caused overall in the cases handled by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department alone ranges between $12,000 and $15,000 at this time.
Detectives with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have tied two suspects to the crime series. One has been identified as Charles Painter Spear (38). Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Spear. It should be noted that he is easily recognizable because he wears a facial mask to cover a disfigurement.
The other suspect is shown in a surveillance video:
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Charles Painter Spear or the identity of the second suspect shown in the video is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
