Pima County Taxpayers Pick Up Donations, Dues For Christy

In January 2015, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved a Discretionary Spending policy. The policy was developed after Supervisor Ally Miller first brought illegal discretionary spending by her fellow supervisors to the public’s attention. You may recall that Supervisors Elias and Bronson had spent 90 thousand dollars for various events and donations.

The Goldwater Institute had threatened legal action against the Board if the practice continued in violation of Arizona’s Gift Clause.

Now, spending by Supervisor Steve Christy has come under scrutiny. Christy is relatively new to the board and did not occupy the office in 2015.

However, say residents, his inexperience is no excuse for spending their hard earned money with abandon.

Christy has spent monies to attend several events and it also appears there are funds being donated by his office as well.
