Tucson Police seek attempted bank robbing suspect

The Tucson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who attempted to rob the Wells Fargo Bank located inside the Fry’s Grocery Store at 2480 North Swan Road on June 25, 2013. The suspect fled prior to their arrival, and no one was injured during the incident.

Detectives determined that the suspect entered the Fry’s, selected food items and walked to the Wells Fargo counter inside the business. He placed a paper bag on the counter and stated it was a bomb. He then demanded money from the victim tellers. The suspect fled the store prior to receiving any money and left the bag at the counter. He was last seen northbound on foot from the store. The object in the paper bag was later found to be a simulated explosive device.

The suspect was described as an African-American male, mid 30’s, 5’10” to 6’1” tall, 150 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a fisherman’s hat. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
