A Border Patrol agent will not face charges for shooting a Douglas teenager according to the Cochise County Attorney’s Office. The office will not file charges against a Border Patrol agent who shot and killed a D ouglas teenager insufficient evidence “to ensure a reasonable conviction likelihood.”
Two years ago, Lucas Tidwell, a Border Patrol agent, shot Carlos LaMadrid as the teen tried to evade authorities and cross into Agua Prieta.
In March, the Justice Department also determined that there wasn’t enough evidence to file federal charges. They made no determination as to whether the agent acted in self-defense.
The government found LaMadrid was in the line of fire because people as people were throwing rocks at the agents from the top of the fence.
