Family sues Pima County for death of boy

The family of Xavier Arturo Sanchez has filed a claim against the Pima County Sheriff’s Office. Sanchez, age 10, was killed when he was playing in the street and a deputy struck him while driving to a call.

The family is seeking $50 million in damages.

The Tucson Police Department investigation the accident and opted not to pursue due to the facts did not show criminality on the part of the deputy. The Pima County deputy was driving north on South Campbell Avenue south of Irvington Road where children were playing in and out of the street.

The family is represented by attorney Adolfo Lara.

Among the damages claimed are:

  • Loss of consortium
  • Medical expenses
  • Funeral expenses
  • Loss of future economic support
  • Emotional pain and suffering
