Two die in two Yuma County single vehicle collisions

YUMA SheriffOn Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 4:41 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle collision at the 1600 Block of West County 17 ¾ Street.

The vehicle involved was a Ford Explorer which was eastbound on County 17 ¾ Street. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle and collided with a power pole located on the north side of the roadway.

The Ford was being operated by Ms. Jeri Ellen McCoy, a 54-year-old female from Yuma, Arizona. Ms. McCoy was the sole occupant of the vehicle. She was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center via Rural Metro Ambulance. She was pronounced deceased at the emergency room.  Next of Kin notification has been made.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

On Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 5:48 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle roll over collision in the area of the Levee Road and Avenue 12E.

The vehicle involved was a gray Dodge Ram 3500 which was northbound on the Levee Road. The initial investigation revealed that the Dodge drove off the Levee Road westbound, rolled, and came to rest on Avenue 12E facing east. The driver was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window. The body of the deceased driver was located under water in the drainage ditch.

The Dodge was being operated by Mr. Derek Leon Madole, a 51-year-old male from Dome Valley, Arizona.  The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
