Second Tucson pedestrian death in two days

On the night of October 11, Tucson Police officers responded to the area of East 22nd Street and South Alamo Avenue due to a 911 call about a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The victim, Eric Beier, had life threatening injuries and was transported to a local trauma center.

Mr. Beier, age 53, succumbed to his injuries on the late evening of October 20, 2013.

The investigation indicated that a 2003 Saturn Ion was traveling westbound on East 22nd Street in the curb lane. Mr. Beier was walking northbound across East 22nd Street in the intersection area at South Alamo Avenue. The vehicle struck Mr. Beier as he was crossing the road. There were no indications that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued. The investigation is on-going.
