Pima County supervisors to decide fate of traffic cameras

While Pima County Manager Chuck Huckelberry claims to be neutral on the renewal of a contract for traffic photo enforcement cameras, the item would not have made it on the Supervisors’ agenda today if he didn’t support it for some reason.

Some question whether it is to provide controversial supervisor Ray Carroll an opportunity to gain some credibility with area conservatives by grandstanding against the cameras, or whether the County is desperate enough for the meager revenue brought into the County through traffic fines.

Either way, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will decide today whether to renew a contract retroactively with Tempe-based Company, American Traffic Solutions. American Traffic Solutions contract expired Monday night.

The meeting will be held at the Pima County administration building located at 130 W. Congress St. on the 1St Floor
