On Wednesday January 22, 2014, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an abandoned truck in Naco, Arizona. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and located a 1995 GMC Sierra pick up truck with Sonora license plates, which the property owner advised did not belong to him.
Deputy Hathaway and his K-9 partner, Marco, responded to the location and upon approaching the truck, Marco got a “positive hit,” which indicated drugs were in the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in multiple packages weighing between one to two pounds containing marijuana, which was being secured into each of the tires on the vehicle. All four tires had a total marijuana weight of 241 pounds, and no other drugs were located inside of the vehicle.
There were no suspects at the scene, and the investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 432-9500. All information received will remain confidential.
