Famous Sam’s shooting becomes homicide investigation

shooterOn May 16, 2014, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to the report of a shooting in the Famous Sam’s parking lot, located at 2320 North Silverbell Road. Upon arrival officers located an adult male with obvious signs of gunshot trauma who then was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in the shooting had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Detectives were able to identify the shooter as 51-year old Mark Walck. On the afternoon of May 16, 2014, Walck was taken into custody after turning himself in to police. Mr. Walck was booked into the Pima County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On June 6, 2014, the victim in this incident succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as 41-year old Raul Castro Jr. Next of kin have been notified.
