Identity sought for Catalina for strong armed robbery suspect

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Robbery/Assault Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in locating suspects involved in a strong armed robbery at a Circle K in Catalina.

Due to tips from the public, 18-year-old Jose Williams Rizo was arrested on June 17, 2014. A second suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Peter Robert Ortiz. He is also known as “DEALS” by taggers in the area. Detectives are trying to locate him and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The third suspect, who was wearing the black mask during the robbery, has still not been identified.

As previously reported On April 7, 2014, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Pima County deputies in Catalina responded to a strong armed robbery at the Circle K located at 16054 North Oracle Road. When deputies arrived, they learned the clerk was getting ready to mop the floor when three men walked into the store and went behind the counter. The three men had white plastic bags that they filled with cartons of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol. One of the suspects held the store clerk in a corner as the other two men continued to take items. When the clerk tried to move the suspect physically held her back and told her to “stay put.”
