On Friday June 20, 2014 at approximately 8:00 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a security company who advised them that there was a gas alarm at a residence in the 2000 block of Charles Lane in San Simon.
Sheriff’s deputies responded along with the San Simon Fire Department and discovered that the homeowners were not there.
Deputies discovered several containers of gasoline out and 4 improvised explosive devices (IED).
The Department of Public Safety HAZMAT team responded along with ATF and Sheriff’s detectives and were assisted by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and Willcox Police Department.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office the residence was processed and secured and they are continuing the investigation.
