Pinal County judge resigns

Pinal County Judge Janna Vanderpool will not ask voters to keep her on the bench this year after resigning Monday. Vanderpool citied health problems as the reson for her resignation.

Just yeserday, the AZDI reported that Vanderpool received one of the worst ratings ever from the Commission on Judicial Performance Review.

In a letter dated June 30, Vanderpool said that her resignation will take effect Sept. 30 so she can deal with a persistent health problem. Vanderpool wrote that she was retiring on her doctor’s advice.

In a 23-6 vote on June 27, the Commission found her to be unqualified to serve on the bench. Over a third of the attorneys who responded to a survey on her legal abilities found them to be either poor or unsatisfactory.
