Tucson police shoot man wielding baseball bat

On July 4, 2012, just after midnight, the Tucson Police Department received a report of a male assaulting someone with a baseball bat in the 200 block of South Norris. Officers from Operations Division Midtown along with the Tucson Police Department Air Unit responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims who reported being assaulted by a suspect with a baseball bat. Both males were transported to local area hospitals for treatment of their
injuries. Officers located the suspect in the backyard of a residence. Upon making contact, the suspect advanced towards the officers in an aggressive manner with an unknown object in his hands.

At least one officer fired his service weapon at the suspect, who was struck. Tucson Fire Department Emergency personnel responded and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives and Night Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
