A 16 year old, Luis Bernal, of Tucson, has been arrested in connection with the murder of 66 year old David Martinez. On August 8th, a search warrant was served at Bernal’s residence in the 4900 block of South Highland Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.
Bernal was booked into the Pima County Jail for 1 count of 1st Degree Murder.
According to Tucson Police the investigation is ongoing and additional charges and/or arrests are pending.
On July 25, 2014, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Tucson Police department received a 911 call requesting police to check welfare on an individual who had not shown up for work in almost a week. The co-worker who called 911, waited outside the residence in the 800 block of West Budmoore Terrace, until officers from Operations Division West responded. Upon arrival, officers entered the residence through an open door. Once inside, they located Mr. Martinez with obvious signs of trauma, indicative of a homicide.
