Tucson Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and passenger of a vehicle involved in hit and run collision that occurred on October 10th. The passenger in one of the vehicles involved has succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred on October 10th, at about 6:13 p.m., at the intersection of Columbus Boulevard and Bellevue Street. Officers responded to a report serious collision and upon arrival located a 2003 Toyota Rav4, a 2004 Dodge Ram and a 2007 Chevy Silverado involved in the incident. The 79-year old female driver of the Toyota and her 77-year old male passenger were transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 34-year old driver of the Dodge Ram had minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Chevy Silverado fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind.
Traffic Detectives responded to continue the investigation. They determined that the Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound on Bellevue Street. The Toyota Rav4 was traveling southbound on Columbus Boulevard and the Dodge Ram was northbound on Columbus Boulevard. As the Toyota and the Dodge were at the intersection of Columbus and Bellevue, the Chevy Silverado ran the stop sign at a high rate of speed. The Chevy Silverado struck the Toyota and the Dodge truck. The Chevy Silverado continued through the intersection and struck a guy-wire for the utility pole on the southeast corner, damaging power lines and cable lines, causing power outages for a number of residences in the area. The occupants of the Chevy Silverado then fled on foot.
On October 17th, the passenger of the Toyota Rav4 succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as 77-year old David Wickersham. Next of kin have been notified. The driver’s condition has improved and she is expected to survive.
The driver of the Chevy Silverado was described as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, 5’7”, 200 pounds. The passenger was described as a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, 5’7”, 180 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
