Speaker-elect Gowan is the first southern Arizonan to be elected Speaker in nearly 30 years; Joe Lane from Wilcox Arizona was the last Southern Arizonan elected Speaker in 1987.
Steve Montenegro is the Majority Leader-elect. He was 4 years old when his family immigrated to the United States from El Salvador, and has served in the House since 2008.
David Livingston is the Majority Whip-elect, and was elected to the House in 2013.
The new leadership is looking forward to building a unified House Republican Caucus that will work closely with the Senate leadership and Caucus.
