In October 2014, a mother contacted police to report that her daughter was receiving sexually explicit text messages from an adult male.  Detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit initiated an investigation into the incident.  They discovered that the male contacted the 10-year old girl through a social media website.  The two started conversing and eventually began texting each other.  The male was aware that he was speaking with a 10-year old girl and the inappropriate text messages to her continued.  On November 5th, the suspect arranged to meet with who he believed to be the 10-year old girl he had been texting, but was actually a Tucson Police Detective. The meeting was arranged for sexual purposes near the suspect’s home in the area of 22nd Street and Pantano.  As he arrived at the meeting location, he was taken into custody by TPD Detectives and U.S. Marshals.

The suspect was identified as 26-year old Amen-Ra Haneef.  He was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for 1 count of Luring a Minor for Sexual Exploitation and 1 count of Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
