Cochise County man shot by woman, flees deputies

cochise-county-creepsOn Tuesday December 9, 2014 at approximately 12:15 am, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man in the 9600 block of Faith Avenue in Miracle Valley who had been shot in the chest area and beaten with a bat.

The caller said that he had the 29 year old ma at his home, who said he was shot and beaten, but would not provide any additional details and fled the scene on foot when he learned the Sheriff’s Office was on the way along with medics.

The caller said that the victim believed that he had a warrant for his arrest so he did not want to be contacted by law enforcement. Sheriff’s Deputies, along with US Border Patrol Agents, and a Customs helicopter searched the area for several hours before a second call was received indicating someone was on a roof of a home on Cana Street.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded back to the area in search of the victim and after receiving a third call advising that the injured man was at a home on Cana, Deputies made contact along with medical personnel and the victim was transported to a Tucson hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Hospital personnel reported that the victim was suffering from head trauma and a lead pellet which had pierced the skin of the abdomen before lodging in his liver.

As a result of the initial investigation, two subjects were taken into custody for this incident after information was developed indicating that the victim went to a residence on Joy Avenue and made contact with Alfonso Moreno. A physical altercation ensued and Moreno reportedly struck the victim with a blunt object multiple times. Sarah Swearingen was also at the residence and reportedly told the victim to leave before shooting him with an air rifle when he did not leave the area.

27 Year Old Sarah Swearingen was arrested and booked on Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.

31 Year Old Alfonso Moreno was arrested and booked on Aggravated Assault, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and being a Prohibited Weapons Possessor.

The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
