Gosar congratulates Netanyahu, others silent

bibiIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party won in Tuesday’s election. It was believed that the race was close, however Likud earned 30 of parliament’s 120 seats.

Only one member of Arizona’s congressional delegation took the time to congratulate the Prime Minister. Rep. Paul Gosar posted a statement on Facebook: “Congratulations to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – בנימין נתניהו on his stunning victory last night as he was reelected to a third term in office. His strength and resiliency in defending the people of Israel is an inspiration to every peace loving country in the world. I am proud to ‪#‎StandWithIsrael‬ in our joint effort to bring stability to a chaotic Middle East.”

Netanyahu angered the Obama administration earlier this month when he delivered a speech to the U.S. Congress.

Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva was the only member of the Arizona congressional delegation to boycott the speech. He joined other hardline progressives and the administration in criticizing Republican leaders who had facilitated the speech.
