Miami Fire starts above Summerhaven

The Miami Fire broke out earlier on Saturday just above Summerhaven. The fire is 40 percent contained, according to authorities.

Crews made good progress constructing fireline. Extensive mop up (cooling interior hot spots) is expected due to heavy fuels and steep terrain. Hoselays are being built around the fire’s perimeter to provide water for mop-up work. Two engines, two hand crews, a helicopter and miscellaneous overhead will be assigned tomorrow.

Mt. Lemmon Highway has reopened.
