In April of this year, the “Cruise in for the Vets” committee hosted a car show in Frontier Village. Profits from the event were donated to the Veteran Affairs Volunteer Services program in Prescott. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Explorers were chosen to provide traffic control for the show and were complimented by the committee on their great job throughout the day.
A $200 donation was offered to the Explorer program as compensation for the work. Instead of accepting the generous offer, Post Advisor Bill Russell and the Explorers made a unanimous decision to donate the money back and designate it to the V.A. Volunteer Services program. Advisor Russell kicked in another $20 to add to the $80 that was raised during a 50/50 raffle at the car show, making the total donation $300.
On June 10, 2015, the Explorers presented a check for $300 to V.A. leadership at the V.A. hospital in Prescott.
Sheriff Scott Mascher thanked the Post Advisor Russell and all the Explorers for “their selfless commitment to others and representing the Sheriff’s Office in such a fine manner.”
