It wasn’t a crime, as it turns out, but a chance for Arizona Coyotes fans to let off some steam after the Coyotes were granted a restraining order against the City of Glendale following a vote to cancel its lease agreement this week at a law enforcement charity event. The event with proceeds benefiting the 100 Club of Arizona, according to Glendale officials Mayor Jerry Weiers auctioned off a chance to Tase him at the event.
The starting bid was $10,000 but that didn’t stop one Coyotes fan, Ronda Pearson, from her chance at pulling the trigger.
The Coyotes fan Ronda Pearson, the woman on the Taser trigger who passionately spoke up during the heated special meeting on Wednesday where the city council voted to terminate its lease with the hockey club, said today’s event wasn’t about getting revenge.
“No I got that out on Wednesday,” laughed Pearson. “Today was about raising money for the 100 Club of Arizona.”
The mayor was reportedly excited about the event and the opportunity to show gratitude for officials who keep communities safe.
According to information from the scene Saturday, Weiers was checked out after the shot and is OK. MCSO was on hand to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible.
