The Maricopa County Sheriff’s office has located the bodies of both the grandfather and grandson who were hiking near Gila Bend. The victims have been identified as Thomas Gillespie, age 64, and Robert Miller, age 12.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to determine the cause of death for both victims.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for the two after receiving a call just after 4:30 Wednesday afternoon from a woman who said her father and her son were last heard from on Tuesday morning and she was concerned about their whereabouts.
The hotel manager where the two were staying said he saw them leaving and believed they were going to hike and take pictures of the Mormon Battalion trail.
The vehicle they were traveling in was located just before 5:30pm on State Route 238 Mile Post 10.
