U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow Federal has ruled in favor of the DOJ in a racial-profiling lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio by multiple plaintiffs in a case brought in 2007.
The DOJ argued that it needed to be involved in order to ensure that the MCSO complies with court orders to reform its policies.
The lawsuit was American Civil Liberties Union and others on behalf of Hispanic drivers, who claimed that they were racially profiled.
In 2013, Snow found the sheriff’s office had discriminated against Hispanics and ordered the Sheriff to make changes to procedures.
