Surprise Police have been working to discover what occurred yesterday afternoon that caused the death of two men, 53 year old Silvio Alessi, and his son, 21 year old George Alessi.
The cause of Silvio’s death is still to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office; however, the team of investigators discovered yesterday he had sustained blunt force trauma to his head. The weapon believed to have been used to cause the injuries was a hand-held hatchet. Silvio was found by responding officers in the living room area of the home.
George was found on the floor in the kitchen area of the home and had what appeared to be single gun-shot wound to his head. Also, a small caliber handgun was found on the floor nearby.
George, transported by an air rescue unit to a local area hospital, was also later pronounced as deceased. Personnel from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the hospital and have transported George to their facility in down town Phoenix in order to conduct a thorough and in-depth investigation into the cause of his death.
Although there is no documented history of domestic violence between the two men, the investigation has revealed this incident was related to domestic violence. The Surprise Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate why this deadly domestic violence incident occurred yesterday afternoon.
