YCSO Seeking Suspects from I-17 Armed Robbery at Sunset Point

Just after 3:30 AM this morning, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the Sunset Point rest stop, adjacent to south I17, regarding a robbery. The 27-year-old victim, a tow truck driver returning from Sedona to the Valley, told deputies he stopped at Sunset Point to use the restroom. He parked his truck at the very south end of the parking lot in the commercial truck area.

As he was walking back from the restroom, a 1980’s model Toyota extended cab truck pulled in behind him. The truck was blue with a gray stripe, with a black tube constructed work rack, and paint overspray visible on the back tailgate.

Two male suspects exited the Toyota truck and one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet. The victim gave the suspect his wallet and both suspects quickly returned to their vehicle and drove south on I17 out of sight. Information regarding the stolen wallet’s content were not available as of this writing.

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect No. 1 – 5’9” in height, race reported as a black/Hispanic mix, stocky build.

Suspect No. 2- 5’5” in height, race reported as Hispanic, white blotches or birthmarks on his face, and armed with a handgun.

YCSO is seeking any information regarding the suspects and their vehicle. Please call our mainline at 928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1800-932-3232 if you can assist in anyway. Refer to case number 15-031049. Silent Witness is offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest.
