On Sunday August 23, 2015 at approximately 4:57 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a hiker who had slipped off of Carr Canyon Falls.

The caller advised that a 19 year old male had been at the waterfall when he slipped and fell approximately 60 feet down the rock face.

Search and Rescue responded along with Fry/Sierra Vista medical personnel and technical rescue team members to assist in getting to the subject and providing a medical assessment.

An AirEvac helicopter was requested to the scene and SAR and Fry Fire personnel set up rope systems to get the man off of the slope in a stokes basket and hike approximately 1/4 mile to the road before reaching the waiting helicopter.

The man was airlifted to a Tucson hospital where he is being treated for a broken leg.
