Bowie Water Company Continues Work To Restore Service

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Bowie water company continues to work on wells to re-establish water service to residents in Bowie. There is an tentative time frame of tomorrow afternoon to have full restoration.

In the interim, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office has volunteers going door to door checking residents and ensuring therir welfare. Health concerns are high due to temperatures in the high 90’s today and homes in Bowie are cooled using swamp coolers that require water to function.

The Bowie School will be open as a resource center for those in need to pick up a case of water per family for drinking or cooking uses, and 50 cases have been picked up in the first hour. The school is also available for a cooling center for anyone who needs to be in a secure and cool location. Portable restrooms have been installed outside of the school and chairs are available inside.

Target in Sierra Vista has donated 38 cases of water for this incident, as well as Safeway in Sierra Vista donating 50 cases and Benson Safeway donating another 50 cases, and Willcox Safeway working on getting as many cases up to 50 as possible.

The Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrols in the community throughout the night to ensure that anyone who has left the area for better resources will have their homes protected. Anyone who is planning on leaving the area to stay elsewhere is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office and provide your address so we can conduct house checks.

Cochise County Emergency Services remain on scene to assist with this incident as well.
