Maricopa County business bust, nets 7 using fake ID

Maricopa County Sheriff deputies conducted a workplace criminal enforcement operation on a central Phoenix business which concluded with the arrest of 7 suspects for identification theft. The business, Nu Look Revinyling, located at 1904 E. Washington St. in Phoenix, employs approximately 25 people for the repair and refurbish of outdoor furniture.

According to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, his deputies have been investigating this business since January 2012 after they received a tip in that several workers were using false documents to gain and maintain employment. After a thorough search of employment records, deputies determined that a number of employees at the business were using false identification, two of whom were using the same Social Security number of a deceased person.

Arpaio says his investigators will also look into possible voter registration fraud, since they are currently using false ID and considering the recent reports claiming a push to register anyone , citizen or non-citizen.

This is the 66th employer sanction operation by the maricopa County Sheriff’s Criminal Employment Unit totaling 647 arrests, of which 460 were undocumented workers aliens using forged or stolen identifications for employment purposes. Just last week, 40 undocumented entrants were arrested in various operations from human smuggling and drop house investigations to criminal employment investigations. All were booked into jail on class four felony charges.
