A Sierra Vista man was arrested on September 4 after using a cell phone to send sexually explicit photographs to a minor – in an attempt to lure her into a sexual relationship.
On September 2, Sierra Vista Police received a report from a family member that Thomas Rownan, 27, an acquaintance to the family, had been communicating via cell phone with a minor – family member. Following an investigation, Rownan was arrested at approximately 9:00 p.m. when he attempted to pick up the minor to engage in a sexual relationship. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail and posted a $50,000 bond on September 6.
Sierra Vista Police believe that this may not be an isolated incident and the investigation is continuing to look into additional leads and other possible victims, says Detective Ransford of the SVPD Special Operations Bureau.
