Former Pima County Sheriff Richard Boykin celebrated his recent retirement the Pima County Sheriff’s Department this week. Boykin, served as Sheriff of Pima County from 1977 until 1980.
According to a Department’s Facebook post, “Boykin was widely known for creating media policies.” It claimed that Boykin received “praise for his genuine determination to make his Department open and cooperative to all media.”
However, as reported in the article, Emails Reveal Absentee Pima County Sheriff, no one really knew for sure what Boykin did in the notoriusly secretive Department. Whatever he did, Boykin $99,444.38 a year doing it, according to sources,

Sheriff Boykin was also widely known for creating media policies. He received praise for his genuine determination to make his Department open and cooperative to all media.
Following his time as Sheriff, Mr. Boykin worked as the Director of Corrections from 1993 until 1998 and then became the Facilities Manager for the AZ High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program from 1998 until present.
