Tips Lead Sierra Vista Police To Felons

An anonymous tip to the Sierra Vista Police Department lead to the Sunday afternoon arrest of two individuals at a Sierra Vista motel for multiple felony drug charges and possession of firearms.

Police received a tip on Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. that Chadwick Springer, 31 of Sierra Vista, was staying at the Bella Vista Motel, located at 1101 East Fry Boulevard. Officers confirmed that Springer was at the location and was wanted on a felony warrant out of Cochise County for possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

At the motel room, officers spoke with Christina Rubin, 34 of Sierra Vista, who confirmed that Springer was in the room. While speaking with her, officers determined that there was a firearm in the room. Since both Rubin and Springer are convicted felons and cannot lawfully possess firearms, police obtained a search warrant for the motel room. Inside, police found a loaded .38 caliber handgun, approximately five grams of methamphetamine, and a usable amount of marijuana. Both Rubin and Springer were arrested.

Rubin was charged with prohibited possession of a firearm, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Springer was charges with prohibited possession of a firearm, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to register as a sex offender. Both were booked into the Cochise County Jail. Springer is being held on $10,000 bond. Rubin was released on her own recognizance.
