Tucson Woman Dies From October Crash

On October 17, 2015, Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at 2800 South Mission Road. Upon arrival, officers located a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria that had collided with a guard rail. The driver, a 73-year-old female, was transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Officers investigated the collision on scene. They determined that the driver was attempting to change lanes from the curb to the median lane while traveling northbound on South Mission Road, just north of Ajo Way. The driver over-corrected and crossed over the raised median. The vehicle struck the guard rail on the west side of S. Mission Road. The investigation determined that speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision.

On December 21, 2015, the driver of the Crown Victoria was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Medical Examiner’s report indicated that the injuries sustained in the collision contributed to the driver’s death. The driver of the Crown Victoria has been identified as Mercy Figueroa. Next of kin have been notified.
