Over the last 14 years, the Arcadia Neighbor2Neighbor group has operated the Citrus Dropoff Program, but with the arrival of the Asian Citrus Psyllid sharing has been suspended.
The Asian Citrus Psyllid has been discovered in western Maricopa County.
Since most of the fruit is donated from anonymous sources, the group doesn’t have the ability to track or verify whether the fruit is infected.
Since its start, the program has collected more than 3 million pounds of quality fruit – most was donated to food banks, Arizona Indian tribes and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Food Distribution Unit.
