The Arizona Registrar of Contractors is looking for James Rafael Servellon, an unlicensed construction contractor, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from Arizona families. Servellon is believed to be on the run and could still be advertising remodeling services online.
There is now an active warrant for Servellon’s arrest.
On December 15, 2015, the State Grand Jury indicted Servellon on nine counts of theft and two counts of fraudulent schemes and artifices. The charges against Servellon came about following an Arizona Registrar of Contractors’ investigation. For approximately three weeks, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has been unable to locate Servellon to serve him with the indictment. A Maricopa County Superior Court Judge recently issued a warrant for Servellon’s arrest relating to charges in the indictment.
The indictment alleges Servellon stole $21,750 from eight different families between April 18, 2009, and July 22, 2015. According to the indictment, Servellon entered into agreements with victims to provide residential remodeling services, and after accepting payment, he never completed the work and abandoned the jobs. One count in the indictment alleges Servellon solicited a victim for a $4,500 investment into Servellon’s business, but the investment was fictitious. That victim was over 70 years old.
Authorities have reason to believe that Servellon’s unlicensed construction activities are ongoing. Servellon is known to post ads on Craigslist offering services for residential remodeling projects, and is believed to use the aliases “James Rafael Amaya,” and “James Rafael Servellon Amaya.” Anyone with information regarding Servellon’s whereabouts should immediately contact the Attorney General’s Office at (602) 542-8888 or your local law enforcement agency.
