Cochise County Shooter Arrested

On January 12, 2016 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to shots fired on Havasu Way, in Cochise.

Upon arrival to the area, deputies identified three victims of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Endangerment.

Deputies issued an Attempt to Locate (ATL) on the suspect, 23-year-old William Maddox, who left the scene in a black Volkswagen four door sedan.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators recovered one bullet from in the ground (shot fired into the ground) and one from a passenger automobile tire.

At approximately 4:00 pm, Maddox’s vehicle was located on the south end of Becks Rd, Pearce/Sunsites concealed behind a mobile home/trailer.

Maddox surrendered without incident and was booked into the Cochise County Jail. Subsequent to a search warrant, the weapon used in the incident was recovered in the trailer.

During the course of the investigation deputies and detectives arrested three additional subjects on arrest warrants- to include one of the victims.
