On January 25, Tucson Police officer Daniel Martinez from was conducting proactive patrol in the area of E. Broadway Blvd. and S. Cherry Ave. He specifically began to keep an eye on the Circle K located at 1602 E. Broadway, as this store had been experiencing a rise in beer thefts.
Just before 8:30 p.m. a male entered the store and a short time later Ofc. Martinez observed the male run from the store. The clerk confirmed the male had entered the store and demanded money. Ofc. Martinez pursued the male and he was detained a short distance away. No one was injured during this incident.
The male was identified as 19-year-old Jose Luna. Mr. Luna was arrested for Robbery and Kidnapping. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
