The Arizona Corporation Commission approved nearly $1.4 million in upgrades to four Union Pacific Railroad crossings in Nogales. The upgrades will enhance safety and traffic flow.

The upgrades will take place at Baffert Drive, Calle Sonora, Bankard Avenue, and Morley Avenue. Each crossing will get new automatic gates with flashing LED lights. The Commission’s Railroad Safety Division works with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and municipalities to identify crossings in need of improvements. The total cost of the upgrades is $1,360,000 and are funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
