Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds has endorsed Kim DeMarco over incumbent Supervisor Sharon Bronson for the District 3 seat on the Pima County Board of Supervisors.
A group of concerned Pima County taxpayers formed the Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds political committee in opposition to the 2015 bond package proposed by the majority of the Pima County Board of Supervisors. All seven proposed bonds were defeated, saving Pima County taxpayers from skyrocketing property taxes and the addition of over $1 billion more to Pima County’s overall debt.
Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds released the following statement concerning why they endorsed Kim DeMarco over Supervisor Sharon Bronson: “Much of our [Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds] success can be attributed to Ms. DeMarco’s effective coverage in the urban areas and west of I-10 from Ajo to Amado, rural areas which were not covered by ‘Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds.”
According to the group, “since the beginning of her campaign last year, Kim DeMarco participated in helping educate and inform the voters of Pima County about the 2015 bond proposals, and the endorsement from Taxpayers Against Pima Bonds recognizes her role in helping defeat the 2015 Pima County Bonds. Furthermore, in District 3, the bonds were rejected by one of the largest percentages of voters in Pima County. However, current District 3 Supervisor Sharon Bronson voted in support of the 2015 Pima County Bonds.”
Kim DeMarco released the following statement: “Supervisor Sharon Bronson is out of touch with her constituents in District 3. And in November, voters will have a choice to replace her with a new voice, a voice that will fight for fixing our roads, cutting our debt, lowering our property taxes, and bringing real economic development to our region. If elected, I will be a supervisor of the people, by the people, for the people.”
