Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three convicted sex offenders over the weekend. In separate incidents, Border Patrol agents from the Nogales and Douglas stations apprehended Federico Reyes-Rodriguez, 55, and Roman Castillo-Leon, 24, for entering the country illegally.
Records checks revealed Reyes-Rodriguez was previously convicted for raping a child in Washington state, and Castillo-Leon had been convicted of having sex with a minor age 3 years or younger in San Bernardino, Calif.
Both men now face possible federal prosecution for illegally re-entering the U.S. as a felon.
In a third incident, Willcox station agents apprehended Rafael Ibarra-Barrera, 37, after he entered the country illegally. When his fingerprints were entered into a national crime database, an active warrant surfaced for cruelty to a child and corporal injury to a spouse. Willcox agents processed Ibarra-Barrera for removal and transferred him to the Willcox Police Department to await extradition to Ventura, Calif.
