On April 22, 2013, Arthur Victor Smith, 20, of Peach Springs, Ariz., was sentenced to 140 months imprisonment, followed by lifetime supervised release. Smith pleaded guilty on Feb. 5, 2013, to sexual abuse.
Smith was charged by indictment with one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 2241(c). According to the plea agreement, the defendant sexually abused a minor female, age 14, and the sexual abuse occurred on the Hualapai Nation Indian Reservation.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Hualapai Nation Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
