The Arizona Historical Advisory Commission has elected new officers. The AHAC is a statutory commission within the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a Division of the Secretary of State.
The Commission is comprised of 18 members.
The new officers are Chair Teresita Majewski, Vice President Operations, Statistical Research, Inc.; Vice Chair – Catherine May, Senior Historical Analyst/Archivist, SRP; Secretary – James Garrison, Arizona State Historic Preservation Officer; and Treasurer – John Langellier, Executive Director, Sharlot Hall Museum.
Until recently, AHAC focused on planning and presenting the Arizona Centennial Celebration working directly with the Centennial Legacy Projects program, but its bylaws were updated so it could continue. The eighteen commissioners represent all regions of the state.
The Arizona Historical Advisory Commission (AHAC) was established by the Arizona State Legislature in 1967 to advise the legislature and state agencies on matters relating to the state’s history, historic preservation and interpretation, research, writing and teaching of the state’s history and heritage. AHAC is a commission under the State Library, a division of the Secretary of State. http://www.azlibrary.gov/ahac/
