Early Friday morning on January 31, 2014, at approximately 4:37 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a serious injury collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The collision occurred near the intersection of East Grant Road and North Tucson Boulevard.

Officers located 23-year-old Desmond F. Canchola in the roadway with life threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Mr. Canchola to a local area hospital. Mr. Canchola succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit responded to continue the investigation. They determined that the vehicle involved was westbound in the curb lane of East Grant Road.
