On Sunday, February 2, 2014, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Yuma Police Officers responded to the 1700 block Dora Avenue for a report of shots fired.
Officers learned Michael Anthony Soto, age 23, was involved in an altercation at a party involving alcohol at the residence of Carla Diane Hirales, age 38. Soto left the residence, got in his vehicle and struck Jorge Damian, age 21, who was standing in the street. Ernesto Lopez, age 21, who was also in the area fired multiple rounds from a handgun; which is still under investigation.
Soto was charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault. Hirales did not allow officers in her residence to check on Damian’s injuries and was charged with Endangerment, Furnishing liquor to under aged persons and using an unlicensed premises.
Soto and Hirales were booked in the Yuma County Adult Detention Facility.
Damian was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment of head trauma and other injuries. He was later transported to a Phoenix Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
