Arizona legislators praise prayer decision

supreme-courtOn Tuesday, Arizona Speaker of the House Andy Tobin commended the Supreme Court Decision on Legislative Prayer. Tobin filed an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to take the case.  President Andy Biggs of the Arizona State Senate and Speaker Mike Hubbard of the Alabama House of Representatives also joined the brief.

“Over the last eight years, it has been my great honor to begin each House floor session united with my colleagues in prayer,” said Tobin on in a statement released on Tuesday. “This is a practice which has united our country’s lawmakers dating back to The First Continental Congress.”

“By taking their case to the Supreme Court, the Town of Greece, N.Y. has helped to uphold one of our nation’s longest standing traditions,” continued Tobin. “The decision by the Supreme Court is faithful to both the First Amendment and our nation’s founding principles.”
