Tucson Police warn of streetcar hazards

streetcar-tracksTucson Police are warning residents in the downtown area to be careful around the streetcar tracks. Police are warning bicyclists in particular, who they say should “be cognizant of the posted dangers associated with the streetcar tracks.”

Police say that traveling across the tracks “will not be much of an issue. However, riding within the tracks can cause serious injury.”

Police posted on Facebook pictures of the gap between the metal and the concrete. They warn that bicycle wheels may get caught in between the tracks causing the rider to fall from his/her bike. They also advise that the medal tracks can be very slippery and can cause rubber tires to lose traction.

This applies to motorcycles as well, according to TPD.
