Arizona corrections officer arrested for sexual assault

corrections-officerOn Wednesday November 26, 2014, Morgan Lichaczewski, 25 of San Tan Valley, was arrested for sexually assaulting a 27-year-old female in late-October of this year. Lichaczewski is employed as a Corrections Officer with the AZ Dept. of Corrections.

On Sun., October 26, 2014 at approximately 4:53 a.m., the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible sexual assault at Lichaczewski’s residence in San Tan Valley, where he lives with his fiancée.

The couple hosted a baby shower followed by a birthday party for Lichaczewski earlier in the evening, where heavy drinking was reported.

The 27-year-old female victim reported she fell asleep on the living room couch and awoke to a male suspect sexually assaulting her. The victim kicked the suspect off of her and told him “no”. The victim reported observing the suspect walking down the hallway toward the bedrooms, prior to falling back asleep.

Statements revealed that a second female was awakened while asleep with her husband in the back bedroom. She reported that a male suspect was touching her leg and attempting to remove her clothes. She woke up her husband and the suspect left the bedroom.

According to witness statements, Lichaczewski entered his bedroom that he shares with his fiancée ten minutes prior to the second female’s husband entering Lichaczewski’s bedroom to inform them that some unknown person was in the house.

After waking the rest of the individuals in the house, the victim shared what happened to her and deputies were summoned to the residence.

The investigation continued for weeks following the sexual assault in order to compile the required evidence needed to make an arrest. Lichaczewski was positively identified and he was arrested on Wed., Nov. 26th, 2014.

Sheriff Babeu stated, “No one is above the law. This suspect was previously trusted to help keep our communities safe by keeping bad guys locked up, now suspect Lichaczewski will likely be spending time with them. We often find in many of these cases that alcohol impairs judgment for victims and perpetrators, yet it’s not an excuse to justify criminal sexual assault.”
